With over 276 SoA members in Wales, we’d love to help members get together and restart a local chapter! Our regional groups are run for members by members, with the support and help of SoA staff.
Local groups are a fantastic way for members to get together informally to chat, discuss their projects and worries, and to gain experience and support from each other and outside speakers.
We’re looking for volunteers who would be interested in helping to coordinate a group in Wales. We're holding an initial lunch meeting on Thursday 25 January to gauge interest and find out what you want from a local group.
Local member Paula Brackston has offered to host this meeting and to say a few words about why she'd value a local group. Assistant Chief Exceutive, Jo McCrum will be there to explain how this group could work and to answer any questions.
This first meeting will be in Abergavenny, and will be a buffet lunch at the Kings Arms Hotel. It is located in the centre of Abergavenny on St John’s Square, opposite the central Post Office. Free car parking is available nearby.
We appreciate this will not be a convenient location for everyone, and one of the aims of the first meeting is to discuss how the group might work, and where group meetings might take place. Some of our other SoA groups, that also cover a large geographical area, rotate their meeting locations, for example: North, South, East, West.
If you’d like to attend this group meeting please book via Eventbrite. The cost is £13.50 for a buffet lunch, teas and coffees.
If you can't make this lunch but you're interested in coming to group meetings or possibly helping to coordinate the group, do get in touch with Anna Ganley.
