Hannah Silva

Hannah Silva is a poet, playwright and performer known for her innovative explorations of form, voice and language. Jump Blue, her work for Radio 3’s Between the Ears, won the jury commendation for Best Single Drama at the 2017 BBC Audio Drama Awards and was shortlisted for Best Actress (Fiona Shaw).

 Other work for radio includes The Music Lesson for Radio 4, Solitary for Radio 3 and the Tinniswood Award winning verse drama Marathon Tales co-written with Colin Teevan for BBC Radio 3. She has performed her poetry widely at festivals including Flip! Festival (Brazil), Literature Live (Mumbai), International Festival of Polyphony (Belgium), and throughout the UK. Her solo theatre show Schlock! was commissioned by The Poetry Trust for the Aldeburgh Poetry Festival, and has toured internationally with the British Council. She was shortlisted for the Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry for ‘Total Man’. Her debut poetry collection ‘Forms of Protest’ (Penned in the Margins) was Highly Commended in the Forward Prizes. Her debut record ‘Talk in a bit’ will be released with Humankind Records in 2018.
