The Society of Authors is a collective voice for authors.
Our advocacy work echoes much of the wider discussions taking place across the creative sectors around the impact of generative AI, human creativity, transparency, fair terms and renumeration, and how to ensure that creators can earn a sustainable living from their work.
Our priorities are to:
- Protect authors in the age of generative AI.
- Defend copyright and authors’ rights in the UK and worldwide.
- Champion freedom of expression and ensure every voice is heard.
- Campaign for fair contracts, fees and pay for authors.
- Promote a respectful, professional and inclusive creative industry.
- Collaborate with partners to remove barriers, support diverse voices and improve sustainability.
- Advocate for a well-funded cultural sector, thriving libraries and inspiring a love of reading.
