11:30 am - Dr Alison Baverstock: Why self-publishing is now just publishing. What the associated processes and technology have to teach authors, publishers and readers.
Dr Alison Baverstock was a publisher, has written extensively about writing and how to get published, and is now Course Leader for MA Publishing at Kingston University. In 2011 she carried out an extensive survey of self-publishing and emerged confident that not only is it changing the face of publishing, it is also equipping authors to engage more effectively with the process of being read. Her conclusions, published as 'The Naked Author' (Bloomsbury) make important - and heartening - reading for anyone embarking on a related project. www.alisonbaverstock.com
