Notes & Letters 2012
Talks, performance, music, readings of international literature in London's state of the art venue….
Designed specifically for Kings Place, Notes and Letters celebrates the interaction of music and literature and examines how two artistic expressions enrich, inspire and feed each other. The festival also looks at translation and breaking the boundaries between genres, cultures and languages. N&L explores our various channels of communications: the voice, correspondences, echoes… Discover unseen exchanges, understand the craft of the translator or the interpreter, think, reflect, listen, discuss.
Founded by TA member Amanda Hopkinson with Kings Place CEO Peter Millican in 2011, this second festival is now co-directed with Geraldine Damico. This year we have expanded and shall open the festival with London's this International Translation Day on Friday 5th and close it with a Modern Poetry in Translation showcase on Sunday 6th October.
Speakers and performers already confirmed for N&L 2012 include Amit Chaudhuri, David Constantine, Mel Cooper, Francoise Delas, Kapka Kassabova, Carine Kennedy, Andrei Kurkov, Lucy Parham, Matthew Reisz, Hannah Rothschild, Alan Rusbridger, Will Self, Tom Service, Ali Smith, Edmund de Waal and Alex Wheatle.
