Frequently asked questions

How do I link to the Society of Authors website?

You can add a graphic to your website that will link to the SofA homepage. All you have to do is follow these steps:

1. Right-click (or, if you are using a Mac, click and hold) on the graphic below and save it to your hard disk:

2. Copy and paste the following HTML code to your web page:

<pre> < a target="_blank" title="Visit the Society of Authors" href="http://www.societyofauthors.org/"> < img height="85" border="0" width="141" alt="Link to The Society of Authors" src="[FILENAME]" /> < /a> < /pre>

where [FILENAME] is the name of the image file which you have saved. If your graphic isn't in the same directory or folder as the web page, you'll need to change the "img src=" attribute to point to the image’s correct location.

3. Upload your web page with the new HTML and the graphic to your web server.

If you want to create an ordinary text link, skip the steps above that relate to the graphic, and copy and paste the following HTML code at a suitable point on your page:

< pre> < a href="http://www.societyofauthors.org/" title="Link to The Society of Authors" target="_blank"> Visit the Society of Authors< /a> < /pre>

4. If you require a brief description about the Society of Authors to use on your website, please use the following: ‘The Society of Authors has been serving the interests of professional writers for more than a century. Today it has more than 8,700 members writing in all areas of the profession. Whatever your specialisation, the staff are ready to help members with any query, however trivial or obscure, relating to the business of writing.’

Other uses

You can also use this logo (linked or not) as a graphic in directory entries, on CVs and on profiles such as Facebook and LinkedIn. However, you may not create your own SofA logo. The Society has a range of logos of various sizes; contact us to find out if we have what you need.

Please inform us of any links you make to our website, as we reserve the right to request the removal of any link that we feel is inappropriate or conflicts with our work and purpose.

A link to the Society of Authors website must not be used to imply an endorsement of your website, related products or services or for any other commercial purposes.
