    Celebrating Asylum

    Illustrationcupboard is proud to present a unique exhibition and sale of original illustration artwork in support of St Mary Magdalene Centre for Refugees and Asylum Seekers. This small London-based charity offers some of the capital’s most vulnerable people a safe place in which to meet and study, working with refugees from countries as far apart as Eritrea and Turkey, Albania and Congo, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Syria.

    A Celebration of Angela Carter: A Bloomsbury Salon with Susannah Clapp & Friends

     

    Susannah Clapp is the author of the first personal portrait of Angela Carter A Card from Angela Carter. The 16th of February marks the twentieth anniversary of the death of the brilliant writer Angela Carter. Susannah Clapp was her friend for many years and the postcards she sent form a paper trail through her wonderful imagination, revealing a portrait of a unique artist. Susannah will discuss her book and memories of Angela with Sir Christopher Frayling.

    Beside the Sea with Lisa Dwan

     

    Beside the Sea is a one-woman play about a mother who is driven to the extremes of mental and physical despair, performed by Lisa Dwan. Taking on the theme of infanticide with tenderness and bravery, this is a story of irrational fear, where love crosses the border into violence. Adapated from Beside the Sea by Veronique Olmi, translated into English by Adriana Hunter.
