The Arts Centre group is establishing a new competition for playwrights. Society of Authors member Tony Jasper is the instigator and administrator. There are two categories:

• The first is the Julian Battersby Award for young playwrights (under the age of 30). Julian was an actor but sadly died last year. The prize is for £500 and a public rehearsed reading.
• The second is the Jasperian Theatre Company award for any age group. The prize is £300 and a public rehearsed reading.

An Award luncheon will be held at the Society of Authors on Friday 26 October, when excerpt of the winning scripts will be heard. The Society is not involved with the competition.

Play submissions should in some way from whatever stance reflect the human condition and be 40 to 50 minutes in length. Full details and relevant entry forms can be ascertained by emailing - info@artscentregroup.org.uk
