PLR update

Archived news: 02 May 2012

With effect from 1 April 2012 all author and book registrations for Irish PLR are being handled by the UK PLR office. This follows the abolition of the Irish Library Council which had previously taken responsibility for Irish PLR.

UK PLR now offers dual application forms which will allow authors to register for both schemes or to register for UK PLR only or Irish PLR only. UK PLR will continue to accept registrations for UK PLR using their standard form and will also accept Irish PLR registration forms, which should now be directed to UK PLR.

Authors wanting to register for both schemes, or for the UK scheme only, can also use the online registration service. (Unfortunately this is not available for authors wanting to register only for the Irish scheme at present.)

Combining the management of the two PLR systems provides an opportunity to ensure that the personal and book details held for registered authors are the same for both schemes. If you would like to authorise UK PLR to synchronise your PLR details in this way a form is available here.

UK PLR will also send a synchronisation form to all authors who receive a postal statement in January 2013.

The new arrangements are being phased in over a number of weeks, and they will continue to provide further updates on their website: www.plr.uk.com
