6.30pm-7.30pm: Book to Screen - Elizabeth-Anne Wheal hosts Hayley McKenzie, founder of Scriptangel Consultancy, discussing the pitfalls, opportunities and challenges involved in getting your book to screen

It’s official! There’s never been a better time for authors to exploit their work for adaptation to the small or even the big screen. Film and television makers are cottoning on to the fact that book adaptations very often do better in sales and ratings than original screenplays. But for most authors this is new and unexplored territory.

The talk will form the introduction to a series of more detailed 'How to..' workshops hosted by the SoA's Scriptwriters Group and designed to help you develop your book to pitch to producers and commissioners. The workshops will offer training in pitch, treatment and basic script writing, as well as answering questions such as:

  • How DO I decide if MY book has potential for adaptation.

  • Who to approach. How to approach them.

  • What work is involved in pitching to producers.

  • Whether to involve a scriptwriter in your project…

These workshops will be scheduled as part of our 2019 events programme. Watch this space!
