We administer prizes to celebrate authors at every stage of their careers. Our prizes cover a wide range of genres from adult and children’s fiction and non-fiction, poetry, audio drama, playscripts, and translated works.

Our annual SoA Awards for adult and children’s fiction, non-fiction, and poetry originally written in English were worth £130,000 in 2026.

Our Translation Prizes celebrate works translated from a variety of languages into English. At the last awards ceremony, we were able to award over £30,000 to translators.

The Imison and Tinniswood Awards recognise new and outstanding audio drama scripts.

We also administer a variety of external prizes, including:

• The Sunday Times Charlotte Aitken Young Writer of the Year Award
• The Windrush Prize for British Caribbean Playwrights.
