Paul Russell Garrett


Paul translates from Danish and Norwegian into English.

Paul has translated children's books, crime novels, poetry and is the translator of Lars Mytting's bestseller, The Sixteen Trees of the Somme. His translation of Christina Hesselholdt's Vivian was longlisted for the 2020 Warwick Prize for Women in Translation. Paul also translates non-fiction, including biographies, reportage, reviews and interviews.

Drama holds a particular interest for Paul, having translated a dozen contemporary and classic plays. He also leads Foreign Affairs theatre translation mentoring programme.

Paul is the mentor for the 2020/21 edition of the NCW Emerging Translator Mentorship, is the current chair of DELT (the association of Danish-English Literary Translators), is a founding member of The Starling Bureau.
