Translator of Scandinavian suspense and non-fiction. Chair of SELTA.
Ian has been translating commercial and literary texts from Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish into English since 2010.
He has served on the SELTA management committee since 2014 and became the association's Chair in 2018.
Ian translates widely for foreign rights agents and is comfortable preparing a translation that can be used in international rights work. He is always adaptable to the demanding timelines required. Naturally, he also works in partnership with English-language publishers.
In 2018, Ian completed his PhD examining the impact of translated Scandinavian literature on the British literary market during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. He currently lives in Edinburgh.
