I have been a writer for most of my life, and entered the publishing industry directly after leaving technical school in 1967. Over the next twenty-five years, I worked as a technical author on various projects for blue-chip companies. These included military publications for the UK army and navy, aerospace projects including Concorde, and manuals for complex industrial production equipment.

In 1990 I formed my own technical publications company, and over the next fourteen years developed that into a small multi-national group with offices both here in the UK, and in the USA. As well as producing content, my company also developed Interactive Electronic Technical Publications for viewing on screen.

Although the majority of my work has been produced to a client brief, the first book I had published in my own right was called “Porsche Catalogues” detailing the history of Porsche using illustrations and photographs from their archive of brochures. In 2004 I decided to take early retirement from the commerce side of the business, and return to writing.  As well as publishing articles and short stories on-line, along with my own blog at, I produce fiction under the nom de plume of Phillip Malcolm. My first full novel "The Mantis Pact" was published in September 2012.

Having researched and written literally millions of non-fiction pages over nearly 50 years, I am able to write on any subject to any length and for any level of readership. My main interests are History (particularly from the 18th Century to date), most Sports (especially Motor Sport) and Music. The latter is a passion - I bought my first vinyl single in 1959, and haven't stopped since, neither do I intend to!  Perm any two from three of those subjects and you will have my undivided attention.

I am a trustee on the board that looks after an historic building in my home town of Bath, and I recently published a history of the building, which is available from all good bookshops and on-line.

As well as producing my own books, I am happy to collaborate on other projects, an example of which was for Sembcorp Bournemouth Water to celebrate their 150th Anniversary.  This was produced in conjunction with the company's print and graphics department, and was published by them in September 2013 under the title "Confluence".

I also write and design websites, examples of which can be found on
